Silk Road Experience 18 days

Day 1Depart for Beijing, cross the International Date Line.
Day 2Beijing - (IM) Evening arrival in Beijing with check-in at the Landmark or Jintai Hotel – 4-star hotel.
Day 3Beijing - (B/L/SD) After breakfast in the hotel, visit the Tian’anmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace. Peking Duck Dinner Party in the evening.
Day 4Beijing - (B/L/D) After breakfast in the hotel, visit the Great Wall, Ming Tombs. Acrobats show in the evening.
Day 5Beijing - (B) Morning visit the Temple of Heaven, and then back to hotel. Rest of today, free exploring Beijing on your own.
Day 6Beijing / Urumqi ? (B/L/D) Morning flight to the exotic city of Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang. Afternoon, arrival and check-in the deluxe Holiday Inn Hotel—4-star hotel.
Day 7Shaolin Temple † (B/L/D) Learning Shaolin Xiao Hong Pugilist in these three days of the real Shaolin Gung Fu Masters
Day 8 Urumqi - (B/L/D) Today, travel to the deep-blue Lake of Heaven, surrounded by mountain peaks and alpine meadows. Enjoy an unique afternoon visit with the nomadic Kazakh community.
Day 9 Urumqi / Turpan - (B/L/D) Morning city tour includes the Xinjiang Autonomous Region Museum, with exhibits of local arts and crafts, and a carpet weaving factory. Enjoy the excitement of a Middle Eastern-type bazaar. After lunch, motor coach to Turpan. Lodging at the Oasis Hotel
Day 10 Turpan (B/L/D) All day tour includes the Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves in the Flaming Mountains. Explore the Gaochang Ruins, the ancient walled capital of the Uigur with the its large monastery and palace. Enjoy Uigurs Traditional Singing and Dancing Show after dinner.
Day 11 Turpan / Liuyuan (B/L/D) Today, view the Karez Underground Irrigation Channels, a 2,000-year-old system that delivers, water from nearby snow capped mountains to Turpan and its agricultural fields. The tour continues to the oasis paradise, Grape Valley. Travel by overnight train with a sleeping car to Liuyuan
Day 12 Liuyuan / Dunhuang (B/L/D) Morning arrival in Liuyuan. Travel by deluxe motor coach on a scenic ride to the 2,000-year-old oasis town of Dunhuang. This oasis was a vital, stopping-off post for caravans linking China and Central Asia. Lodging at the Feitian Hotel—4-star hotel.
Day 13Dunhuang (B/L/D) All day sightseeing features the Mogao Grottoes that contain the world’s most impressive and best preserved examples of Buddhist cave art. Hundreds of sandstone caves hold more than 2,000 statues and 45,000 paintings of Buddha and Chinese mythological figures. Evening entertainment includes a special cultural performance.
Day 13Dunhuang / Jiayuguan (B/L/D) Travel by motor coach to Crescent Moon Lake in the Singing Sand Dunes where the oasis meets the desert. Take an optional camel ride Continue on a scenic route to Jiayuguan, an ancient outpost. Lodging at the Great Wall Hotel—4-star hotel.
Day 14Jiayuguan / Lanzhou T206 18:45 / 08:34 (B/L/D) Morning tour to Jiayuguan Pass, the western end of the Great Wall. Afternoon Train to Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province. Travel by overnight train with a sleeping car to Lanzhou.
Day 15Lanzhou / Shanghai ? (B/L/D) City tour includes White Pagoda Park and Gansu provincial Museum. Relax with a tranquil boat cruise on the Yellow River. Evening flight to Shanghai. Check-in at the deluxe Holiday Inn Hotel—4-star hotel.
Day 16Shanghai (B/L/D) After breakfast in the hotel, visit the Jade Buddha Temple, Yu Yuan Garden and The Bund Waterfront. Staying in the Holiday Inn Hotel.
Day 17Shanghai (B) After breakfast, the entire day is free for exploring and shopping.
Day 18Shanghai /Tokyo / Vancouvr ? (B, IM) Departure to Tokyo and flight back to Canada on Air China’s flight.
